Update 2nd January 2013

With the Temperature hitting 13 degrees today the fish were up on the fin at 'Chirk Fishery'. A number of quality fish were taken mostly on a 'Cul-de-Canon'. Here are some pics.

Celyn Wyn did some fancy work with the net here, he also excelled playing and landing a Tiger trout Rainbow trout and a Brown trout. We start them off young at the 'Hardy Flyfishing School'

Update 23rd October 2012

A strange day weather wise today at Chirk, heavy feel in the atmosphere with a mist periodically rising off the water, not great fishing conditions by any standard, but, Dr's Nick and Sarah from a Liverpool Hospital, sampling Chirk for the first time, practiced their casting skills before being let loose on the fish stock With many missed takes on dries and small lures, they imagined that there would be nothing for tea!!!! but perseverence paid off and both succeeded. Sarah with a Rainbow and Nick with a Brook Trout, well done to both, here are some pics.

Update 5th October 2012

With the River Dee nearly in the fields again today, James Mc Allister decided on a n outing at Chirk Fishery, he was not disappointed.

A nice Brook Trout on a size 22 nymph.

A fully tailed Rainbow on a size 22 Dry Shuttlecock.

Update 1st October 2012

Chirk fished well on Sunday the 30th September with the clients catching in the region of 20 fish between them, mainly on dry fly. Casting techniques enhanced and most of the regular clients of the Hardy Flyfishing School are really quite advanced which is a credit to their personal efforts. Here are some pictures:

Update 21st September 2012

Not easy today with the drop in temperature and that dreaded Easterly wind, but my client managed this one on a Sedge Emerger, well done!

Update 5th September 2012

Chris treated birthday girl 'Lynne' to an outing at Chirk Fishery today. Lynne had already sampled some casting tuition, at the North Wales Country Fair in Bala. Chris fished away catching 2 nice Rainbows on a Cul-de-Canon, but Lynne was the star today landing this beauty on a size 18 Shutlecock emerger. Well done to both.

Update 3rd September 2012

A nice day had by all three participants....well..... all helpers were away on their annual holidays so it was down to me to deliver, and I did!!!!

The best catch of the day!!! Carrot Cake courtesy of Eric the Boy!

Update 24th August 2012

Josh and his Dad came for a 4 hour session at Chirk today and quickly picked up on the rudiments of the Roll and Overhead cast, then went on to catch some trout on the Cul-de-Canon, well done to both, here are a couple of pics.

Update 30th July 2012

A cracking day had by all at the Chirk training day yesterday 29th July with all the participants enhancing their skills at Casting and also fishing. One absolute beginner took three trout on a dry fly!
A total of 22 trout were caught, please follow the link below for some pictures.

Update 10th June 2012

The 'Hardy Flyfishing School Course' today at Chirk fishery was met with some decent weather for a change and the full contingent of ten participants were successful within their own abilities, enhancing themselves with both their casting skills and fishing skills. The 'Hardy Flyfishing School Courses' run a Chirk fishery, is as much about enhancing actual fishing skills as it is about learning to cast, from absolute first timers, through intermediate and on to advanced ,double hauling 25 yards of line out, aye Trev, without a blemish in the loops both front and back by the end of the day and a few trout in the deal also, well done, through to catching 4lb trout on an emerger pattern, aye Chiara, Judith shared a number of my flies with the trout, hey ho !!. Steve Daley recently GAIC qualified instructor / coach worked relentlessly all day long moving from client to client, showing them how it was done and helping them acheive. Following the feast of a lunch, thanks 'Becky'.... all participants went fishing and a number of trout were caught, and more lost as the clients learnt the skills required. Some kept for the table, but, most returned to the water. Well done to all of them, here are a few pics from the day.
