FLYDRESSING FORUM FOR ANY FLYDRESSING PROBLEMS http://ukflydressing.proboards.com/index.cgi STEP BY STEP THE 'G.H'.BLOODWORM An important pattern to have at the ready at all times. A deep sunk pattern for all occasions, possibly the most important food source within the aquatic table, full of protein for ALL fishes. I tie them in varying colours to match what i can see to be near the colour of it's surroundings when it is in the hot area in and among the fish. How would you fish it ? Well, I have found through trial and error that it is best fished static !! on a long leader, yes cast in and allow to sink onto the weed or lake bed, the odd 1" pull now and again is enough, you will feel the line tighten up as the fish moves slowly away with it, tighten up at that point, I call it the 'ONE CAST FLY' for you can do that with it, cast in and leave, I recall in a small water fishery one day years ago describing it as such and showing the fly and giving it to someone to try. 'ONE CAST' the angler was tempted to move it and i advised him against it. Within two minutes of casting in and letting it rest on the weed he had his first double figure Rainbow Trout, it touched the net scale at 12lb, onlookers were amazed, but it works. ![]() Bloodworms placed on weed for photographing ![]() Notice the thin profile, this is necessary!
