SEATROUT FISHING TUITION / GAME ANGLING INSTRUCTOR IN NORTH WALES
Now just a few days away from the clocks goung forward and the start of the spring proper.... about eight weeks from then and I will be making arrangements to meet with the silver bullets.
It is now the 1st October 2008 and whilst the river did drop for a few days to a reasonable height it is up today yet again, as predicted, the season for the seatrout with me is a washout, roll on 2009 season and hope for better conditions....well there should be more seatrout to re produce. To all those that registered an interest for 2008, you are top of the list for 2009! roll on the magical time when the Foxgloves open up right to the top flower, for it will be time for the silver bullets.
It's now the 2nd September and I updated last on the 5th August in anticipation of the appearance of the silver tourists, the river has been up and down like a yo-yo, never dropping to a height that is conducive to night time seatrouting. Whilst a couple have been caught during daytime hours by Salmon anglers no night time seatrouting has taken place. If the river dows not go to Sumer low in the next week I am afraid that 2008 will be a washout for the seatrout.
5th August 2008, Whilst a number of Seatrout have entered the system they are not with us in the upper reaches in any numbers at present, this last bit of water we have had may alter that, checking on last years returns we were into them at this time last year.
ALTHOUGH A LONG WAY OFF AT THE MOMENT EARLY JULY 2008 WILL SEE THE SEATROUIT ARRIVE IN NUMBERS IN THE UPPER DEE. I HAVE ACCESS TO A BEAT WHERE YOU CAN BE GUIDED / I CAN SUPPLY THE TACKLE ALSO.
SEATROUT NIGHT FISHING.
Update 26th August 2007
A 2" Silver and Black tube accounted for these seatrout last night, between 10pm and 12midnight
Update 25th August 2007
Out last night with Iwan Lewis. Between us we got into some good quality Seatrout on the Dovey Black and Orange and also a 2" Silver and Black tube and the trusted Surface Lure. Sport was fast and furious with many hook ups and thrown flies as the fish cascaded across the pools. However both managed some fish, here they are,the best went 4lb.
Update 24th August 2007
Out last night with two clients. Saw a number of good quality Seatrout show but they were reluctant to play with the half moon and very clear sky. However both managed some fish, here they are.
Update 22nd August 2007
Was out last night for an hour the north wind afftced the fishing but the river height has just reached its best for night fishing. Anthony Wright had this one on a Dovey Black and Orange and lost another. Saw a number of good quality Seatrout show juyst after dark then it went dead.
Update 10th August 2007
Was out last night for an hour and moved seven fish in total. Kept these two seatrout and returned two grayling 2lb plus. It was relatively light and plenty of stars, the fish went off as the temperature dropped off and the mist started coming off the river which is at a lovely height at present. Here they are:
Update 22nd July 2007
River has been too high for the last three weeks for any serious night time fishing. On a more positive front some great seatrout have entered the system and quite a number caught on spinner and worm tactics in the high water. This has to be a noteable fish by anyone's standards. Sam did well when fishing in alower dee beat with a worm...after he shouted to his dad. 'I think I've got a fish on'. Is he ever likely to forget it?
Update 6th July 2007
Have shown the pools in the Upper Dee the flies just once up till now this season. I saw a Seatrout of about 2lb jump out one afternoon and decided to have a go...every since that evening it has been raining and the river is bank high, as soon as it drops off, there will be a chance of a fish or three.
Update 11th August 2006
Out last evening for a couple of hours, although there was cloud it was very light due to the full moon, touched Seatrout in all the pools but no proper contact, will try smaller flies this evening if the same conditions prevail, here is the largest off the beat this year so far 5lb 6oz
(Picture off the Mobile Phone)
Update 3rd August 2006...the number of fish is now increasing in the beat with the arrival of the smaller Seatrout, these three fell to the Dovey Black and Orange last night, the best going 1lb 8oz, tweaks and bumps in all the pools, could not interest anything on the surface lure though.Every outing is an Education.
Update 1st August 2006....the biggest so far this year is one of 5lb 6oz which fell to yours truly again on the Dovey Black and Orange. Mark Sadler broke his Seatrout duck last night after five visits to various rivers over a period of time during visits to the UK, with this one
