LAKE VYRNWY FISHES WELL IN THE EARLY SEASON THERE IS A GREAT HATCH OF CHIRONOMIDS THERE AND THE WILD BROWN TROUT WILL BE IN THE MARGINS AFTER THEM. BOOK EARLY FOR 2010.

Update 25th June 2010

After a few days on the River Dee and the promise of cloud cover Mark West decided on Vyrnwy for the day.He had no experience of boat fishing and whilst there was not really enough of a breeze Mark fished very well with a Bibio Dry accounting for 6 Brown trout of this stamp.

Update 16th June 2010

Fished the Whitegates area on the lake today with John McEwan in bright sunshine and light variable wind, we managed 8 fish between us 7 Browns and a Rainbow on 'Dry Shutlecock' patterns. Here are the two best fish.

Update 4th June 2010

The promise of a nice settled warm day with a small breeze turned out to be mixed weather again today on Vyrnwy, but, Trevor Rees managed 7 very nice Brownies on a dry fly in a few hours around lunchtime, before the dreaded calm came in.

Update 19th May 2010

Still a little on the weak side to what can happen on Vyrnwy, possibly due to the reluctancy in the weather to warm up properly, but a great day was had anyway by Peter Weir on his first visit with three Rainbow's and two Brown Trout,on a dry fly, here is the best Brown.

Update 3rd May 2010

Today was not so good, probably due to a very cold North Easterly breeze following an overnight frost. Steve Daley did ok though with four nice fish on pulled wets, here is one of them.

Update 22nd April 2010

First visit to Vyrnwy today with Arwel Thomas. he did really well in very bright conditions in the margins with a suspender chironomid pattern, boating seven lovely wild brownies. Considering he had not caught a fish on a dry fly before showed that he had mastered the technique, well done Arwel.
